Steen Rasmussen is a Danish physicist renowned for his work in artificial life and complex systems. He earned his Ph.D. in physics from the Technical University of Denmark in 1985. Rasmussen has held research positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Santa Fe Institute. Currently, he is a professor at the University of Southern Denmark, where he directs the Center for Fundamental Living Technology. His research focuses on understanding and constructing transitions from non-living to living matter. In 2018, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Artificial Life.
